अचानक उस बूढ़ी अम्मा ने मेरा हाथ पकड़ा और मुझे अपने कमरे में ले गई फिर अपने तख्ते पर बिठाकर, कुछ चावल के फूलें खाने को देने लगी। वह मेरे चेहरे, मेरी आँखों में कुछ ढूँढ़ने का प्रयास कर रही थी पर मैं समझ नहीं पा रहा था। जब हम वापस चलने को हुए तो ना जाने क्यों मेरा मन पीछे मुड़-मुड़कर उसे देखना चाह रहा था और मैं एक खिंचाव-सा अनुभव कर रहा था।
