शहर का सबसे बढ़िया होटल था, इसलिए शानदार दावत थी। खाने के साथ-साथ कार्यक्रम की सफलता के लिए बधाइयों का आदान-प्रदान भी हो रहा था। शासन को कार्यालय की रपट कैसी भेजी जाए? इस पर भी विचार हो रहा था।
दो अधिकारी भीड़ से अलग हाथ में प्लेट पकड़े, बातें कर रहे थे। एक अधिकारी जो सूटेड बूटेड था। उसने दूसरे अधिकारी से कहा- “मुख्य अतिथि बहुत अच्छा बोलते हैं। उनका भाषण सुनकर लगा कि हम अपनी मातृभाषा पर कितना अत्याचार कर रहे हैं?”
पूरी बात सुनकर दूसरा अधिकारी बोला- “आप इस भ्रम में मत रहिएगा कि वह मातृभाषा के कट्टर समर्थक है…. आपको कभी उनके घर लेकर चलूंगा। उनके घर में अंग्रेजियत छायी मिलेगी। कुछ दिनों पूर्व उनके पिताजी बता रहे थे कि उनके पुत्र को उनके धोती-कुर्ता पहनने और हिंदी में बातें करने पर सख्त आपत्ति है।”
यह सुनकर उस अधिकारी ने आश्चर्य प्रकट किया।
“अरे…! इसमें आश्चर्य कैसा….? ‘बिहेव एकॉर्डिंग विंड’….!”
